Littlecote House Hotel in Hungerford, Berkshire built in the mid-1500s, this beautiful Grade I listed Tudor manor has a truly unique story. History is literally on your doorstep: the stunning location has played host to occupying Romans, a Tudor tryst and even a Civil War army. The grounds contain an ornate Roman mosaic floor and settlement remains. Henry VIII courted Jane Seymour here, and the D-Day landings were planned within the house. England’s last remaining Cromwellian Chapel in a private house is also here, and the property offers many more historical jewels for you to explore at your leisure. All of this comes with outstanding service, a restaurant that has been awarded 2 AA Rosettes, live entertainment every night, and a host of activities from tennis to air-rifle shooting.
Warner Hotels have well kept grounds
Take a dip in the pool
We have stayed at a few Warner leisure hotels and this was our first visit to Littlecote. Staff as usual were polite, very friendly and helpful. Rooms were also up to the typical excellent standard and was newly renovated.
Food and service in the restaurant was one of the best we have had when it comes to Warner’s except that some of the breakfast options could have been improved such as more choice over fresh fruit however the service was excellent and the food was delicious especially at evening meals.
The only issue we had was down to very poor availability for parking which was limited and we hadn’t experienced this before with any other Warner leisure hotels. You have to arrive early to guarantee a space and if you pop out and lose your space then it’s a real hunting game to find another space on your return. Thumbs down on this one!
Free Wi-Fi is the best I’ve had at Warner’s and was available in our room and it was very stable and at high speed which means you could easily stream HD content on your mobile device.
Overall highly recommended and i would strongly recommend a return visit. One of the better Warner hotels we have stayed in.
I am writing this on behalf of my parents.
They have just returned from a 5 day break at Littlecote through Shearings holidays. After terrible hotels with Shearings in the past, I persuaded them to give this trip a go as Warner Leisure have great reviews.
They stayed in a signature room which they said was lovely and spacious. They enjoyed the food and were pleased with all the choices available. They loved the old house and grounds. They also said that the staff are very helpful and work hard to look everyone.
They are hoping to visit again soon!
We stayed In a standard room with patio it was perfect for our needs everything you require in a room. Food was the usual Warners good standard with plenty of choice. We did a line dancing class which was great fun as was the archery and shooting. We even tried to have a game of tennis which was different and for various reasons hilarious. Pop choir was great fun as well. We came this weekend because the Jonathon Wyatt Big Band were playing and have to say they were amazing, we danced quite a bit, such a pleasure to do so to a live orchestra. All staff on site were friendly and helpful. This site is beautiful and the gardens are a pleasure to walk round. We will definitely return.
we booked the select room which was spacious and well appointed. the room allocated was farthest from the lift but my wife is awaiting a hip replacememt so I asked for an alternative and was offered one very close to the lift, can not fault the housekeeping, our room was cleaned and the sundries replenished daily. we also booked a gold vip experience which gave us a very good table both in the restaurant and the theatre. the menu was extensive and the food excellent. the quality of entertainment was really good and something we looked forward to each night. make no mistake, the stewardship of this fabulous tudor property is onerous and I believe from exploring the house and grounds that warners take this very seriously. thanks to the warner team for a lovely stay
