Nidd Hall Hotel Harrogate

Nidd Hall Hotel in Harrogate, North built in the 18th century by a wealthy Bradford wool merchant, Nidd is a potpourri of architectural styles. Rumour has it that Edward VIII met Wallis Simpson at a party here – and we’ve maintained the tradition by giving our guests a party every night with first class live music, comedy and dancing. Nidd Hall is set in 45 acres with award winning gardens. You can cast a rod on our fishing lake or, from some of the rooms, cast your eyes over the spectacular Yorkshire countryside.

Review

Another mini story from the Influential Traveller. My wife and I have just returned from a three night break at Nidd Hall, really enjoyable. I will start with the grounds. Immaculate, varied and interesting enabling walks for all. Large lake, take your own gear and rod licence and fish to your hearts content. Lots of quiet corners to sit, admire and relax. Two tennis courts, my wife and I played, badminton and table tennis also outside, plus a variety of exercise equipment throughout the grounds. By far the best grounds of any Warners we have been to and that includes Thorsby. The hotel being an old large country residence is what you would expect, high ornate ceilings, airy rooms, comfortable sitting areas, just ideal. The food was first class, what amazes me is catering for so many people how Warners always get it right. I give the food five stars. The waiting staff were polite, efficient and nothing was too much trouble. One area where I think the restaurant could improve is more space between the tables and table cloths, the bare table tops were "a bit canteen". Warners pride themselves on the entertainment, usually very good, Wayne Denton as Neil Diamond was very good, the other acts all suffered from the acoustics. These are not good, very low ceiling is not ideal and the bands tend to play too loud. I understand Warners are looking at how the acoustics can be improved. Overall a wonderful break, well done Warners and well done all your staff.

My husband and myself stayed in a lovely room with french doors overlooking the garden which are beautifully kept,a big thanks to the cleaning team who did a brilliant job. The restaurant was lovely staff were very attentive as were all the staff in the hotel nothing was to much trouble for them, my only negative comment would be about check in if you had a standard room you were made to wait until 3 pm before you could check the rooms were ready so we did feel a little like second class citizens at one piont the two very nice girls had finished checking in the 2 pm arrivals but we still had to wait 20mins to check we were not the only people upset by this. But otherwise a brilliant stay.

In order to visit family in the area , we booked into Warner’s Nidd Hall for what we hoped would be a little comfort at good standard. We were not at all disappointed. Set in gloriously varied and peaceful extensive grounds , with special little delights at every turn, this beautiful hotel lived up entirely to our expectations and beyond. Our room was large and lovely with comfortable bed, immaculate new wet room and pretty views over a courtyard with fragrant rose walk. The terraces, shop, coffee shop and Spa are all lovely and the pool is huge with a great jacuzzi. In the restaurant we enjoyed masses of choice at breakfast , from fresh fruit cocktails and juices to as much Continental and “full English” as anyone could want. Dinner was at least as good and varied , from an extensive salad bar to carvery or entirely table served if desired . We were fortunate to have as our server , Oana, an entirely professional but most kind young person for whom nothing was too much trouble. We found this to be true of most staff, all pleasant and welcoming. Happily we could prebook our pavilion bar and theatre table where we enjoyed great quality entertainment with An hilarious
comedian followed by the fabulous show of and The Real Thing —- not a tribute act!! We found bar prices to be similar to any city centre pub , parking to be free and allocated as near as possible to our room and luggage porterage to work perfectly. All in all the best hotel stay we have experienced anywhere in the UK . Thank you Nidd Hall 👏👏
